This is responsible work in the enforcement of the City’s zoning, property maintenance, litter, soil, building setback, business license, health codes and sign and housing ordinances. Work involves enforcing the provisions of the City’s Codes/Ordinances or other applicable federal, state, and local codes, laws, rules, regulations, specifications, standards, policies and procedures; researches code-related issues as needed; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.

Patrols assigned areas of City and inspects various sites to determine compliance with Codes/Ordinances. Conducts investigations into potential code violations; conducts site visits, collects information, and gathers evidence; interviews witnesses, complainants, offenders, and others. Participates in court activities to pursue legal action against violators. Must be able to prepare and maintain accurate logs/records of code enforcement activities; prepare detailed reports of activities and investigations.

High School Diploma or GED;
Supplemented by one year previous experience and/or training. Must be able to obtain International Code Congress (ICC) Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification within the first 6 months of employment. Must Possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License. Bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish) preferred.

Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of object and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds). EOE
