We are hiring a Crane Technician to join the team in Minneapolis/Forest Lake, MN.
The Crane Technician will provide quality installation, inspections, maintenance and repair service for hoist and crane equipment. A Crane Technician will also uphold the highest level of professional integrity and ethics as required to instill customer confidence and continued success in service.
- Service overhead crane systems and hoists by performing quality installations.
- Perform OSHA equivalent inspections; document and complete warranty work; troubleshoot breakdowns.
- Perform preventive maintenance and respond to emergency service/breakdown calls.
- Support customers by effectively interfacing with them and the office in repairing equipment as needed.
- Perform electrical and/or mechanical adjustments or repairs with or without engineered drawings.
- Maintain rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques, and recommending system improvements.
- Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklists.
- Maintain professional presentation, timeliness, appearance, and organization in all areas.
- Develop a working knowledge of Federal, State, and local codes for overhead cranes and hoists.
- Responsible for company equipment, including company vehicle(s) and tools.
- 5 or more years’ troubleshooting experience with cranes and hoist equipment.
- Experience with 3‑phase motors, VFDs, contractors, and circuits.
- Previous overhead crane and scissor lift experience.
- Associate’s degree with a concentration in Industrial Electrician or Electro‑Mechanical Technology (preferred).
- Ability to work at height, in extreme temperature and noisy locations; physical demands including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting 50‑100 lbs.
- Perform inspections to OSHA criteria.
- Ability to work independently.
- Capable of dealing directly with the customer and representing self and company in a professional manner.
- Communication skills both internally and externally, informing both the company and the customer of the status of the job.
- Quality and results driven while maintaining a safety mindset.
- Required to use own hand tools and meters.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
