The Controller is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial and human resources operations, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness. This role partners closely with executive leadership to provide accurate reporting, forward‑looking analysis, and strategic insight that supports informed decision‑making and long‑term stability.

The Controller provides both strategic and hands‑on leadership, strengthens internal controls, manages risk, and drives continuous improvement across accounting and HR functions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic financial insight and recommendations to executive leadership to support long‑term planning and operational decision‑making
  • Lead the preparation, analysis, and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial models
  • Oversee cash flow planning, liquidity management, and financial risk mitigation
  • Deliver cost, margin, and profitability analysis to support operational initiatives and strategic investments
  • Design and provide meaningful financial and operational reporting to enable data‑driven decisions
  • Direct all accounting operations, including general ledger management, journal entries, and month‑end and year‑end close processes
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, establishing controls, review processes, and performance metrics
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure financial integrity
  • Ensure timely and accurate bank reconciliations and oversight of daily cash activity
  • Validate the accuracy of financial transactions, processes, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain organizational good standing with regulatory and statutory agencies
  • Lead external audit processes and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and advisors
  • Prepare and review year‑end schedules, work papers, and audit documentation
  • Oversee insurance coverage, risk exposure, and review of contracts, leases, and vendor agreements
  • Provide executive oversight of human resources operations, including payroll administration and policy implementation
  • Lead and support HR staff to ensure consistent, compliant, and fair employment practices
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that support a positive and high‑performing workplace
  • Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of employee and organizational information
  • Serve as departmental leader for Accounting and Human Resources, supporting team development and accountability
  • Provide cross‑functional guidance on financial controls, payment practices, and operational efficiency
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
  • Act as a hands‑on leader capable of supporting day‑to‑day operations when necessary
  • Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • CPA designation strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Experience overseeing both accounting and human resources functions preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, compliance requirements, and financial reporting standards
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools; ERP experience preferred
