Process Optimization Manager – Cheese
We’re seeking a technically skilled, data‑driven leader to elevate our cheese making operations across our Enterprise Process Optimization Manager – Cheese will drive continuous improvement, reduce process variability, and standardize best practices while partnering closely with Cheese makers, Operations, Quality, and Engineering.
Job SummaryThis role blends scientific expertise, Lean Six Sigma methodology, and hands‑on project leadership to enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency Enterprise wide.
Responsibilities- Lead enterprise‑wide continuous improvement and standardization of cheese making processes
- Train and mentor teams in Lean Six Sigma, statistical tools, and best practice decision making
- Manage technical projects, including lab analyses, pilot trials, and data‑driven process improvements
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to enhance quality, reduce variability, and improve operational performance
- 4‑Year Bachelor’s Degree or other advanced degree in Food Science or related field; emphasis in Dairy Technology preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience producing dairy products, including working with cheese making equipment and quality related systems.
- Experience conducting laboratory testing and procedures related to dairy products.
- Cheese makers License preferred.
- Certifications preferred:
Pasteurizer Operator Certification and Six Sigma, Black Belt Certification. - Ability/willingness to travel 40% of the time to other Grande facilities based on project needs.
- Proficient in using statistical tools (Minitab, SAS or equivalent).
- Experience with project management processes – write charters, create Gantt charts in MS Project, trial plans, analyze data, report writing.
- Broad technical knowledge, principles, and practical application in dairy production.
- Strong problem‑solving skills; able to analyze complex issues and determine solutions.
- Leadership ability; lead and act as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite.
- Proficient with statistical analysis tools and software.
- Willingness to build competencies through continued education in chemistry, dairy chemistry, food science, etc.
