Location:Folsom, CA (with on-site presence for events)
Schedule:Part-Time (20–30 hours/week, flexible schedule)
Pay Range: $25-29 per hour
Position Summary
The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing Powerhouse Ministries’ largest and most visible events. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role oversees key fundraising and community-facing events that advance our mission, strengthen donor relationships, and invite the broader community into meaningful engagement.
This position requires a high level of ownership, organization, and relational skills. The ideal candidate understands that well‑executed events create momentum, trust, and long‑term impact.
Key Responsibilities- Lead planning and execution for Powerhouse’s signature events, including major fundraising events and large‑scale community gatherings such as Christmas Around Town, Dragon Boat Racing, and other flagship initiatives.
- Manage event timelines, budgets, run‑of‑show documents, and logistics from concept through completion.
- Serve as the point person on event days, ensuring smooth execution and a positive guest experience.
- Partner closely with the Director of Development to support fundraising goals through events.
- Assist with donor cultivation events, sponsorship coordination, and guest engagement strategies.
- Help ensure events reflect excellence, hospitality, and clear mission impact.
- Collaborate closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and ensure proper staffing of volunteers and event‑day teams.
- Build and develop a team of event leads who help execute events with excellence and care.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and external partners before, during, and after events.
- Create welcoming, well‑organized events that reflect the values and culture of Powerhouse Ministries.
- Support community‑facing events that serve families and vulnerable populations.
- Maintain a strong attention to detail and professionalism in all public‑facing moments.
- Support post‑event wrap‑up, including thank‑you communication, data tracking, and debriefs.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and growth for future events.
- 2+ years of experience managing large‑scale events, fundraising events, or community events.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace; experience with donor or event management tools a plus.
- Experience in nonprofit, ministry, or community‑based organizations.
- Calm, adaptable, and solutions‑oriented under pressure.
- Close attention to detail with a standard of excellence.
- Passion for creating experiences that bring people together for good.
