Job Summary
Haven OBGYN is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and energetic Medical Assistant (MA) to join our growing women’s health practice. This is a critical frontline role supporting high-quality gynecologic and obstetric care in a modern, technology-enabled clinic.
As a Medical Assistant, you will work closely with our OB-GYN providers and care team to deliver an exceptional patient experience—from intake and rooming to clinical support and follow-up. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, patient-centered, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient women’s health setting.
Epic experience is strongly preferred
, specifically Hill Chart (Epic) familiarity.
- Clinical Support
- Perform patient intake, including accurate collection and documentation of medical histories, chief complaints, and symptoms.
- Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, BMI).
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures, explaining steps clearly and ensuring comfort and privacy.
- Assist providers during OB-GYN exams and procedures (e.g., pap smears, IUD insertions/removals, biopsies, colposcopy).
- Support in-office procedures and basic wound care as appropriate.
- Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection in accordance with CLIA and safety protocols.
- Assist during urgent or emergent situations and support Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols as needed.
- Document clinical encounters accurately in Epic (Hill Chart).
- Update patient charts, enter orders, and support coding using ICD-10
. - Manage task lists, in-basket messages, and clinical workflows within Epic.
- Support telehealth and hybrid care workflows when applicable.
- Provide excellent customer service and patient education throughout the visit.
- Answer patient questions and reinforce provider instructions.
- Coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-up care.
- Support same-day visits, urgent gynecologic concerns, and efficient patient flow.
- Assist with scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and prepared.
- Collaborate closely with front-desk, providers, and leadership to maintain smooth clinic operations.
Required
- Medical Assistant certification or equivalent clinical training.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic or healthcare setting.
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Epic EHR experience
, especially Hill Chart (Epic). - OB-GYN, women’s health, internal medicine, or medical-surgical experience.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding and clinical documentation standards.
- Experience with in-office procedures and point-of-care testing.
- Prior experience in hospital-based or ambulatory care settings.
