Job Summary Project Engineer IV provides
engineering leadership and cross‑functional coordination for complex defense‑related projects. The individual acts as the primary technical interface between engineering, program management, customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring successful execution of technical scope, schedule, and risk.
Responsibilities
Serve as technical lead and integrator for assigned defense and aerospace projectsDevelop, maintain, and execute integrated master schedules in coordination with engineering and program managementManage and lead Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), including resource allocation and task prioritization across disciplinesCoordinate cross‑disciplinary engineering inputs (mechanical, electrical, systems, software)Drive risk and opportunity management planning and mitigation strategiesManage and develop complex project planning and integration activities involving cross‑functional engineering teamsDevelop statement of work (SOW) for internal and subcontracted effortsManage subcontract technical execution, including coordination, oversight, and interface controlConduct hardware procurement planning and lead trade studies to inform make/buy decisionsSupport customer technical interchange meetings, design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), and working groupsAuthor and review engineering documentation, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and test plansEnsure compliance with CDRLs, program contract requirements, deliverables, and related obligationsRequired Qualifications
U.S. citizenship required due to government program requirementsMust have or be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret ClearanceDemonstrated ability to manage engineering projects through full lifecycle—from requirements definition through verification and deliveryStrong leadership and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, mission‑focused mindsetStrong technical background and sound engineering decision‑making skillsDriven individual with a continuous improvement attitude and high standards for technical rigorWell versed in customer expectation management, communication, and stakeholder managementPreferred Qualifications Experience
7–10 years of project engineering, systems engineering, or technical leadership experienceBackground in aerospace or defense industry, preferably on DoD and MDA programsExperience with Earned Value Management (EVM) and Integrated Master Plans/Schedules (IMP/IMS)Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) under full EVMS‑compliant contractsProficient in applying systems engineering methodologies and processes with a strong understanding of the SE lifecycle as defined by DoD and MDA acquisition standardsPreferred knowledge of controllable solids technology and propulsion‑related system integrationPrior experience interfacing with DoD customers and supporting proposal efforts a plusEducation
