Jr. Systems Engineer

Pay Range

Base pay range: $75,000.00/yr – $82,000.00/yr. Additional pay will be based on skills and experience.

UNICO’s Systems Integration team is expanding and seeks a Junior Systems Engineer or Systems Engineer. The role focuses on civil and transit systems integration (not IT). Responsibilities include managing complex systems to ensure they meet technical and performance requirements, overseeing V&V, and preparing reports under senior staff guidance.

• Support project teams by performing systems engineering tasks and administrative activities, including requirements management, RAM, V&V, and interface management.
• Maintain the Requirements Management tool and processes, ensuring logs (submittal, RFI, approved changes) are accurate and audit‑ready throughout the project life.
• Conduct V&V of rail civil and systems designs to verify compliance.
• Prepare and submit reports and documentation as directed by senior staff.
• Operate primarily in an office setting.
• Multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
• Collaborate effectively as part of a team.
• Use the Microsoft Office suite and other relevant tools.
• Communicate quality written and verbal information.
• Work with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS or Jama; familiarity is a benefit.
• Have certification or familiarity with INCOSE Systems Engineering Principles.

• 0–5 years of direct, related experience.
• Degree in a related engineering discipline.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screening.
