Position Overview The Deputy Project Manager / Project Engineer will oversee civil design projects from concept through construction. This position is ideal for an experienced Associate Engineer or mid-level Project Engineer ready to take the next step. This individual will focus on design leadership, working closely with Senior and Principal Engineers to deliver high-quality infrastructure and site development projects throughout California.
Key Responsibilities- Lead design efforts for public works and land development projects including grading, drainage, roadway, water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
- Oversee the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E).
- Conduct design reviews for accuracy, constructability, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with subconsultants, contractors, and public agencies to ensure seamless project execution.
- Assist in managing project scope, schedule, and budget while tracking deliverables and QA/QC reviews.
- Prepare technical reports, design narratives, and cost estimates.
- Mentor and provide design guidance to junior engineers and CAD staff.
- Support proposal preparation and participate in client presentations.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an accredited university.
- California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license required.
- 5–10 years of civil design experience with a mix of public works and/or land development projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative team setting.
- Salary Range: $115,000 – $140,000 (DOE)
