The City's Finance Department is recruiting for a Revenue Technician (Temporary, Part-Time) with excellent customer service skills and experience in cash management.

NOTE: Unfortunately current active CalPERS members are ineligible for employment with part-time positions.

Schedule & Benefits
  • Total weekly hours vary, but between 20-25 hours weekly.
  • Within standard office hours 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is in City Hall and serves as the main front counter/customer service position.
  • Casual/Seasonal Part-Time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.

Responsibilities
  • Serve the general public at counter, over telephone, or over the web in connection with utility services, business licensing, and providing general information.
  • Receive and direct complaints or requests in a friendly, service-oriented manner; may personally answer routine questions.
  • Perform miscellaneous bookkeeping, statistical, and clerical tasks.
  • Accurately process all cash and credit card transactions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain the security of cash, credit card transactions, and customer information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
NOTE:

Education

High School Diploma, G.E.D, or equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.

Experience

Some experience and/or training in an office setting, paid or unpaid, related to filing, reception, processing mail, typing, data entry, answering phones, assisting the public or other office support duties is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a typical office environment. (1) Mobility: frequent use of keyboard; frequent sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending or squatting. (2) Lifting: frequently up to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 40 pounds. (3) Vision: constant use of overall vision; frequent reading and close-up work; occasional color and depth vision. (4) Dexterity: frequent repetitive motion; frequent writing;

frequent grasping, holding, and reaching. (5) Hearing/ Talking: frequent hearing and talking, in person and on the phone. (6) Emotional/ Psychological: frequent decision-making and concentration; frequent public and/or coworker contact; occasional working alone. (7) Environmental: frequent exposure to noise.
