Position: Deputy Head of Animal and Land-Based Studies

Overview

Your Skills, Their Success, Supporting the Community's Future - Join us as a Lecturer. As a Lecturer of English, Maths, and ESOL at EKC group you will teach, train and assess students in a variety of learning environments, ensuring a high-quality learning experience. Your role will also include providing support to learners to enable them to achieve their maximum potential and to lead as appropriate on designated study programmes and/or courses, with a key responsibility for ensuring the design, delivery and evaluation of programme.

Please note that there are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once one full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. (Lecturers must be in post by 1^st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval).

Therefore, internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification.

Responsibilities
  • Teach, train and assess students in English, Maths, and ESOL across a variety of learning environments to ensure a high-quality learning experience.
  • Provide support to learners to enable them to achieve their maximum potential and lead on designated study programmes and/or courses.
  • Design, deliver and evaluate programmes, with a focus on tracking student progress and planning targeted support and interventions.
  • Plan engaging, innovative lessons that inspire learners; manage a classroom effectively with strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Be prepared to work across Level 1 to Level 3 programmes and motivate learners to achieve and succeed.
  • Participate in the organisation's training and development initiatives (the Teacher Academy offers ongoing training and coaching and digital skills support).
Qualifications and Experience
  • Working Hours:

    18.5 per week.
  • Experience teaching or delivering training in the workplace is ideal but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • A highly organised and creative educator with the ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons; strong interpersonal skills, a positive and empathetic approach, and the confidence to manage a classroom effectively.
  • Ability to teach across Level 1 to Level 3 programmes and motivate learners.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults; all staff are aware of responsibilities for upholding safeguarding principles.
  • As a designated establishment, we are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and carry out checks to ensure staff are suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults, including conviction/caution self-declaration, Enhanced DBS check and referencing.
Salary, Hours and Benefits

Salary (pro rata): £18,055 - £19,780
Working Pattern:
Wednesday 12.30 - 5pm, Thursday 8.30 - 5pm, Friday 8.30 - 4.30pm
