Part of the hemodialysis health care team providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients under RN supervision.
Principal Responsibilities and DutiesCustomer Service
- Drive FMCNA culture through values and standards
- Ensure outstanding service to all external and internal customers
- Develop and maintain effective relationships
- Initiate timely response and follow up on customer service issues
Patient‑Related
- Provide direct patient care for assigned patients
- Perform technical aspects of dialysis procedures as prescribed
- Monitor and document dialysis treatment parameters
- Report significant changes or equipment problems to supervisor
- Educate patient and family about renal disease, dialysis, diet, medications
- Assist with emergency procedures and intravenous medication administration
- Document pre, interim, and post treatment reviews
- Initiate CPR measures in event of arrest
Technical
- Operate dialysis equipment safely and per procedure
- Provide minor troubleshooting when necessary
- Maintain clean, safe, sanitary environment and address spills
- Operate emergency equipment per SOPs
Staff Related
- Participate in staff meetings and care plan meetings
- Attend in-service classes for current practice
- Act as resource for staff and coordinate care with physician, dietitian, social worker
- Other duties as assigned
Desk and computer work; direct patient care involving heavy lifting and movement. Frequent standing, bending, moving equipment up to 200 lb, lifting 30 lb solutions up to 5 ft. Travel between facilities and meetings. Exposure to infectious substances.
Education- Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN)
- Current state licensure
- Preferred: 1 year medical‑surgical nursing experience
- Preferred:
Hemodialysis experience; ICU experience - Complete training in theory and practice of hemodialysis
- CPR certification
- Complete Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire
- Availability for coverage during short‑staffing
- Pass Ishihara Color Blindness test
- Good verbal and written communication
