Building Maintenance Worker II

Overview

Under general supervision, this position performs the duties of a Building Maintenance Worker I as well as additional duties as mentioned for the Foley Sports Tourism Complex and Foley Event Center. Operates heavy equipment for event operations and setup. Maintains thorough knowledge of the principles of building maintenance. Maintains knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and masonry. Assists in city events including high profile events with large numbers of citizens, tourists, and visitors.

This position works weekend events as well. Operates small equipment in the maintenance of the entire complex and the upkeep of the facility. Reports to the Event Operations Administrator.

• Cleans and maintains the Foley Event Center. This includes vacuuming, scrubbing walls and floors, mopping, stocking restrooms, cleaning toilets, emptying garbage, sweeping, painting, and washing.
• Provides event operational support including cleaning restrooms, sanitation, plumbing emergencies, mechanical setup and repairs of facility equipment, setup of tables/chairs/bleachers, and setup for electrical/data needs.
• Performs routine maintenance for filters, bulbs, ceiling/floor tiles, and toilets.
• Provides assistance with the planning and preparation of all special events held by the City of Foley, including high profile events.
• Operates and sets up the indoor/outdoor sound and scoreboards for tournaments.
• Works without immediate supervision in a lead man position or a working guide to direct work for “Building Maintenance Worker I” positions and part-time seasonal workers.
• Repairs equipment, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC when necessary.
• Works with vendors for products and tools for the Foley Event Center.
• Refers to diagrams and event layout diagrams and power diagrams.
• Interacts and communicates with a wide variety of groups and individuals to include the Event Organizers, City of Foley Police, Fire, Maintenance, Parks and Recreation Departments, Foley Visitors Center, general public, special events, local schools, and landscape staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of experience in a job related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
