Institutional Giving Manager

About This Opportunity

The Institutional Giving Manager is a key member of QBG’s Development Team, responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the Garden’s institutional giving portfolio. In collaboration with the Director of Development, they will work to meet – and strive to exceed – annual fundraising goals by securing public and private support for the Garden's general operations, capital projects, and program-specific initiatives.

Th Institutional Giving Manager will work with the Executive Director, Director of Development, and other Development staff to identify top funding priorities and create short-term and long-term fundraising strategies in accordance with the Garden’s five-year Strategic Plan, adopted in fiscal year 2026.

The ideal candidate is an excellent writer and communicator with very strong attention to detail and outstanding organization and management skills. The position reports directly to the Director of Development.

Responsibilities

    Manage a portfolio of foundation, government, and individual funders, keeping accurate track of deadlines, reporting requirements, and grant-related deliverables Collaborate with the senior leadership team to identify funding priorities within the Garden’s Strategic Plan, and develop fundraising strategies accordingly Conduct regular prospect research to identify new, viable funding sources in the corporate, government, and foundation sectors Develop and write project-specific and general support letters of inquiry, proposals, and full applications to current and prospective institutional funders;

    package and track requests Work with Director of Finance & Administration to prepare budgets for proposals and applications Ensure information from institutional donors, including contact information, remains updated in databases and contact lists Utilize donor management software to organize and track annual giving Collaborate with department leads on program-specific funding initiatives Occasional supervision of assistants, interns, and/or volunteers

    Provide support to Director of Development’s efforts to seek corporate sponsor ships and deliver sponsorship benefits Coordinate internally to ensure financial and programmatic information relating to grants and reports is accurate and reflective of the donor’s requirements Assist with preparation of materials, including Board Reports, corporate sponsorship decks, Annual Reports, and other QBG collateral

Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in institutional giving and/or grant writing for nonprofits and/or city government; experience with federal funding a plus Excellent writing, communication, creative thinking, and organizational skills Familiarity with New York City foundation and corporate funders, or with New York City funding processes Excellent organization and management skills; ability to juggle multiple deadlines at once Awareness of, or interest in learning about, cultural landscape in New York City and public gardens Ease with technology;

    proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Sharepoint and Donor Perfect, a plus Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends

Schedule and Benefits

This is a full-time position with weekly on-site work, and some flexibility to work remotely. Schedule is generally Monday through Friday, with occasional required evenings and weekends.

Salary: $60,000 - 68,000
