The Civil Engineer will work for our client, a leading civil engineering firm, established in 1999 and recently voted as one of the Top 25 Engineering firms by NJ Biz. This firm has steadily grown based on a solid reputation for providing quality service. The diverse staff includes a team of respected engineers and inspectors throughout New Jersey and New York.

Efforts include some of the largest transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan area such as the Raising of the Bayonne Bridge, Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing, NJ Turnpike Widening, and Fulton Street Transit Center.

Description:
Reporting to the Engineer of Construction / Resident Engineer at LaGuardia Airport's field office. The scope of the work will be involving airport and building concrete work, civil-site work, paving, drainage systems, structural and maintenance of traffic, with some MEP.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect all building and airport concrete work
• Inspection of site work, paving and drainage systems
• Inspection of all structural building work at the airport
• Read and interpret plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documents
• Review plans for constructability and prepare comments
• Coordinate multiple work locations
• Perform audit inspections throughout the construction process
• Knowledge of building codes
• Coordinate with contractors throughout the facility
• Prepare all submittals, schedules, and contract requirements

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience inspecting construction work varying in size and complexity aspects of construction and maintenance projects. Trained in OSHA 30-hour construction safety and fall protection, confined space, etc.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly for writing daily narratives and reports
• Certified Special Inspector preferred
• Valid driver's license required
• NICET Level 3 Asphalt or highways desired but not required
• ACI Special concrete inspector desired but not required
• Work Zone Safety certs desirable

Education:
BSCE – Civil or Structural or equivalent
