The Electrical Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing new business opportunities and managing client relationships within the electrical construction market. This role focuses on selling electrical construction services across commercial, industrial, and/or specialty markets while leading sales efforts from lead generation through contract execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage Sales Account Manager who report directly to this role.
- Set clear expectations, performance goals, and accountability standards for the sales team.
- Conduct regular coaching, ride-alongs, performance reviews, and pipeline reviews.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop sales talent to build a high-performing team.
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Translate company objectives and annual sales initiatives into actionable plans for the sales team.
- Ensure alignment of individual account strategies with overall company and regional sales goals.
- Monitor sales performance, forecasts, and key metrics to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities in the sales pipeline and implement corrective actions.
Market & Customer Focus
- Support Sales Account Managers in developing and maintaining relationships with contractors, developers, engineers, distributors, and other construction industry stakeholders.
- Assist in managing key or strategic accounts as needed.
- Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and construction industry dynamics to guide sales efforts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with marketing, operations, estimating, and project teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Ensure sales initiatives are consistently communicated and executed across the team.
- Provide feedback from the field to leadership to help shape future strategies and offerings.
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare and deliver accurate sales forecasts, reports, and performance updates to senior leadership.
- Manage budgets, pricing strategies, and margin expectations in coordination with leadership.
- 5–10+ years of experience in electrical construction or related construction sales
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Strong understanding of electrical construction services, delivery methods, and contracts
- Experience selling to general contractors, developers, and building owners
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Experience with design-build or negotiated electrical projects
- Established industry relationships within the local construction market
- Familiarity with estimating software and construction management platforms (Accu Bid and Bluebeam).
Travel & Work Environment
- Frequent local and regional travel to job sites, client offices, and industry events
- Combination of office, field, and remote work
Work Environment
- Ability to visit active construction sites and walk uneven terrain
- Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs
- Combination of office and field-based work.
