Advanced Materials and Specialty Chemicals Recruiting Team is seeking highly qualified candidates for a Safety and Environmental Manager Role with a client in the Specialty Chemical and Raw Materials Manufacturing Industry. You will be responsible for leading all site-level safety and environmental regulatory compliance initiatives within the production facility. You will develop and lead a strong safety culture focused on risk mitigation, detailed training sessions, and clear and concise hazard communication.
There is also a necessary component of environmental regulatory compliance dealing with site permitting and shipping and receiving of potential hazardous materials.
- Lead and enforce plant safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE compliance, training sessions, and more
- Manage and continuously improve the SOP database to ensure alignment with sitewide standards and OSHA compliance
- Conduct routine site walkthroughs for risk assessment and lead Corrective and Preventative Action Investigations (CAPA) and Root Cause sessions for nonconforming or compliant issues
- Oversee hazard communication (Haz Com), Safety Data Sheet (SDS) document control, and other chemical hazard communication programs
- Work with the Quality Assurance Team on raw materials qualification
- Lead environmental regulatory compliance initiatives for air/water permitting and site remediation documentation
- Work with shipping and receiving to provide proper documentation and regulatory compliance for hazardous material transport (DOT/IATA/REACH/TSCA)
- 3-5+ yrs experience in Site Safety Management or EHS Management in a manufacturing environment
- 7+ yrs career experience overall in specialty chemicals or manufacturing
- BS Degree in a related field
- Strong working knowledge of regulatory standards OSHA, TSCA, DOT, IATA
- Demonstrable experience in leading the implementation of safety culture initiatives
This is a high-visibility role offering the opportunity to shape safety performance and environmental stewardship within a growing specialty chemicals operation. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and relocation may be provided depending on candidate situation.
