Organ Placement Coordinator

The Organ Placement Coordinator is responsible for providing technical assistance to the surgical organ recovery process along with the preservation and distribution of organs for transplantation. The Organ Placement Coordinator must be able to fulfill an extensive on-call schedule. This position is also responsible for a number of routine activities conducted in the office to complete the organ recovery process and documentation.

This position will also respond to public requests for information and support public education activities as directed by management.

• The incumbent is expected to take 24-hour call with responsibility on a rotating basis with the other staff members.
• Assembles all necessary equipment. Must be able to life fifty pounds.
• Scrubs-in to surgery to assist as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality of donors and recipient information in accordance with MORA policies.
• Completes documentation as required by MORA with special attention to accurate and thorough medical-legal documentation. Obtains accurate recipient follow-up information for case folder and other agencies as needed.
• Maintains sterile supplies and equipment bags.
• Attends coordinator meetings to receive updates on case activity and provide information on follow-up.
• The incumbent is responsible for obtaining guidance from the Manager or Director when encountering situations with which he/she has no previous experience.
• Performs other hospital development and public education/relations duties as assigned by MORA management.
• Performs other related duties and assignments as required by his/her supervisor.
