The Plastic Molding Engineer is a "hands‑on" position that plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing equipment and processes to produce high‑quality injection‑molded products. The role involves coordinating the molding efforts on new program launches, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes, assisting in problem‑solving and continuous process improvements, and mentoring and training other injection molding personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement injection molding processes for new and existing products, establishing robust and repeatable process parameters.
  • Develop and implement science‑based processes and generate documentation and controls to ensure efficient and optimal run consistency.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing methods and processes, utilizing techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOEs), lean manufacturing principles, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Analyze manufacturing data, monitor cycle times and production efficiency, and identify and resolve production issues and defects using root‑cause analysis.
  • Ensure quality output of molded components, conduct trials and validation studies, and implement and maintain manufacturing best practices.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure conformance to specifications and compliance with Good Practice (GxP) procedures, such as those found in the medical device industry.
  • Work with equipment and material vendors to resolve machine and equipment issues.
  • Monitor and report issues with injection molds, making recommendations for refurbishment based on production factors such as cycles, process capability, and tooling history.
  • Identify and implement cost‑optimization and reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain high quality standards through on‑the‑floor interaction with employees to ensure quality and accuracy in each step of the production process.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians, operators, and other molding personnel.
  • Ensure that all business activities conform to local laws and regulations and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Desired Experience and Qualifications

    Work experience
    : 5 years in an injection molding manufacturing environment

    Education
    :
    Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering

    • Experience in processing of thermoplastics, robotics, automation, and hot runner systems.
    • Strong and diverse technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality.
    • Self‑starter with a high level of self‑motivation, able to work with little direction.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work in an interruption‑prone environment.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Strong TEAM and LEAD mentality.
    • Quality orientation and high attention to detail.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Complex problem‑solving capabilities.
    • Commitment to workplace safety.
    • Ability to present ideas and reports clearly in written and verbal format.
