Summary (Position Description):
As a Pressure Vessel Engineer, you will be instrumental in helping our team develop and sustain our pressure vessel portfolio. This portfolio consists of shell and tube heat exchangers, receivers, oil separators and other pressure vessels primarily used for commercial / industrial refrigeration and especially systems focused on using natural refrigerants such as Ammonia and Carbon Dioxide. You will join a talented design and engineering team responsible for working with customers, sales, and operations to deliver high quality products in a timely manner that are code compliant.
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Essential Duties and Tasks- Review Customer request for quote and specifications.
- Perform mechanical calculations, prepare design details, and produce fabrication drawings and bill of materials.
- Collaborate with different departments to ensure the quality and consistency of drawings and procedures.
- Develop new ideas and design concepts to improve productivity and reduce cost.
- Work closely with other departments and support production personnel and troubleshooting any assembly issues that may arise.
- Maintain existing products through documentation, sustainable processes and the Engineering Change Process.
- Ensure our products meet relevant safety standards and regulatory codes by organizations such as ASME, ANSI, and ASHRAE.
- Demonstrate excellent customer interaction and communication skills.
- Present technical trainings to other employees and customers.
- Offer guidance as needed with respect to Solid Works, AutoCAD, and other relevant engineering tools.
- Strategic Thinking – Aligning product development with market needs.
- Technical – Understanding of machine design, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
- Regulatory Compliance – Knowledge of safety standards and codes:
- ASME Sect. VIII Div 1, IIAR 2, ASHRAE 15
- Effective Communication – Explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Adaptability – Open-minded, assertive, and proactive in seeking improvements.
- Commitment to Excellence – Dedicated to continuous personal and team development
- Software Proficiency – Skilled in Solid Works, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited institution
- Minimum of 2-3 years of engineering experience, preferably in pressure vessel manufacturing
- Proficient with the Microsoft suite
This job is performed in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The overall business is a manufacturing environment and at times may have to go into the manufacturing area wear proper PPE is required.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; stoop; use hands; and reach with hands and arms. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
