Description

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to join our team as a Rural Food Supervisor/Coordinator. In this role, you will oversee and manage staff during all facets of rural feeding process ensuring items are packed appropriately and by food safety standards. This position is required to be onsite at all distribution sites, possess excellent communications and organizational skills, a high level of detail is essential, and demonstrate a strong commitment to ensuring food safety and timely distribution

  • Packing Food:
    Oversee the packing process to ensure all items are securely packed, labeled, and organized for easy access during delivery.
  • Loading Food:
    Assist staff with loading packed food bags into delivery vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient arrangement for transportation and timely delivery.
  • Food Distribution:
    Ensure accurate food distribution to the appropriate locations and that visitors at sites are eligible for food distribution services.
  • Inventory Management:
    Maintain an accurate inventory of packed food items and report shortages or discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Quality Control:
    Ensure all food items meet quality standards and are packed in a sanitary, safe, and organized manner.
  • Teamwork:
    Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth and efficient workflow in the packing and distribution process.
  • Maintenance:
    Keep packing areas clean, organized, and well maintained for a safe working environment.
Requirements

Seasonal Position - April through August 2025

Onsite Requirements:

  • Attendance at all distribution sites for summer, Tuesday-Thursday, at these locations:
  • Speer Sente r, DeSosto County
  • Harlem Civic Center, Hendry County
  • Moore Haven Library, Glades County

Compliance: Ensure compliance with SFSP standards by following all established policies and procedures to guarantee adherence to SFSP guidelines and regulations, as well as company policies, to ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of food.

Documentation: Maintain all required documentation accurately, updated, and stored in accordance with program standards.

Deadlines: Ensure all required tasks are completed within established timelines to ensure smooth program operation and compliance.

Packing/Loading: Oversee packing and loading to ensure items are securely packed, labeled, organized, and delivered on time.

Distribution & Eligibility: Ensure accurate distribution to appropriate locations and verify visitors are qualified for distribution services.

Inventory & Quality: Maintain inventory and ensure food items meet quality standards and are handled safely.

Physical & Environment: Position may involve warehouse or food storage exposure to varying temperatures; standing, walking, and lifting; PPE may be required; flexibility in hours including mornings, evenings, or weekends.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in food handling, packing, or distribution (preferred).
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy bags or containers (up to 50 lbs).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • This position may require working in a warehouse or food storage environment, with exposure to varying temperatures.
  • The role may involve standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods of time.
  • Flexible working hours may be required, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on food distribution schedules.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, kneel or stand for extended periods and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • Ability to lift or carry 20-50 lbs and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed (gloves, mask).
