Automation Technician – 2nd Shift (Sarasota, FL)Pay: $35–$39 per hour
Schedule: 3‑4‑4‑3 rotation (consistent 2nd shift)

Role OverviewThis position supports a high‑volume distribution environment by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated systems. The Automation Technician ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and keeps operations running safely and efficiently. It’s well suited for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work, problem‑solving, and working with complex automation.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLC‑controlled equipment, conveyors, sorters, robotics, and automated material‑handling systems.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control‑system issues to restore equipment functionality.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and control diagrams.
- Assist with PLC program adjustments, I/O checks, and system calibrations.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve system performance.
- Document work performed, parts used, and system updates in maintenance software.
- Follow all safety procedures and support a safe working environment.
- Experience with PLC systems, preferably Allen‑Bradley.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including 24
VDC, 480
VAC, VFDs, sensors, and control circuits. - Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical equipment.
- Familiarity with conveyors, automated sortation, or warehouse automation is helpful.
- Ability to work independently on 2nd shift with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- PLC experience, coursework or certification.
- OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO or related safety training.
- Competitive hourly pay of $35–$39/hr
- Stable 3‑4, 4‑3 schedule on 2nd shift
