Supervisor- Inspection Services

We’re seeking a hands‑on, working supervisor who leads by example while staying actively engaged in the field. This role provides direct supervision and guidance to a team of six Inspectors while also carrying a full workload of field inspection responsibilities, balancing leadership, collaboration, and day‑to‑day operational excellence.

• Lead, support, and supervise a team of six Inspectors performing inspections of one‑ and two‑family dwellings.
• Conduct hands‑on field inspections of residential properties, including driving a City vehicle as part of daily duties.
• Provide effective leadership by conducting performance evaluations and making informed recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, transfers, and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with the Building Official, Deputy Building Official, and internal stakeholders to improve code enforcement processes and service delivery.
• Participate in section planning and develop budgetary recommendations in coordination with department and City leadership.
• Represent the Growth Management Department at trade and neighborhood organization meetings to support education, outreach, and community engagement.

• High School diploma or GED
• Ten (10) years of experience in work involving residential, industrial or commercial inspection, construction supervision, or design
• Three (3) years of supervisory experience in residential, industrial or commercial inspection, construction supervision, or design

• Must meet one of the following at the time of appointment:
  • Contractor registered with the State of Florida, meeting competency requirements
  • Contractor certified by the State of Florida
  • Architect or Engineer registered with the State of Florida
  • Standard Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector license issued by the State of Florida
  • Eligible for a Provisional Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector license issued by the State of Florida
• Individuals without a Standard Inspector license must obtain within one year of appointment:
  • Standard Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector license
  • Standard Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Plans Examiner license
  • Standard One‑and Two‑Family Inspector and Building Code Administrator license
• All other employees must obtain within one year of appointment:
  • Standard Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Plans Examiner license
  • Standard One‑and Two‑Family Inspector and Building Code Administrator license
• Must possess a valid Class E State driver’s license
