You will operate critical equipment while driving daily production, mentoring crew members, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring each project is executed with precision and efficiency. Key Responsibilities- Operate long reach excavators in marine and land‑based dredging environments
- Perform unloading operations from hopper barges into trucks (up to 60 ft reach)
- Execute underwater dredging from barge‑based platforms (up to 55 ft reach)
- Lead daily production activities to meet project schedules and quality standards
- Coordinate crew workflow to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
- Provide direction to laborers, deckhands, and support crew
- Establish and maintain high standards for safety, accountability, and professionalism
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective solutions
- Train and mentor less‑experienced operators and crew members
- Communicate production updates, equipment needs, and field challenges to ownership
- Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment
- Troubleshoot engines, hydraulics, and marine field equipment issues
- Assist with small boat handling and marine logistics when required
- Maintain organized, clean, and compliant job sites
- Enforce company safety policies and marine construction protocols
We are seeking a senior‑level dredging professional with strong technical ability and demonstrated leadership capability.
Required- 5+ years of excavator operating experience
- Advanced long reach excavator proficiency
- Experience operating on barges and working over water
- Strong mechanical aptitude (engines, hydraulics, field servicing)
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays
- Experience leading crews or supervising field operations
- Heavy civil or marine project coordination experience
- Ownership mentality and accountability for results
- Decisive field leadership
- Calm, structured communication under pressure
- Ability to build organization and production discipline on‑site
- Long‑term commitment to growing with a specialized marine contractor
- $25.00 – $29.00 per hour starting range (based on experience)
- Structured pay increases:
- Increase after 3 months
- Increase after 6 months
- Up to $30.00 per hour + paid vacation eligibility after one year
