- The position may involve controlling range test areas and/or repairs to towers, including replacement of cross-members, bolts, and other tower hardware. The role may require climbing towers up to 300 feet.
- Assist senior level technicians or site supervisor with range inspections on various Training/Testing ranges located in numerous locations on the Eglin range complex including Santa Rosa Island.
- Work is performed under minimal or no supervision and involves applying skilled trade practices in different work situations throughout the E-OMS contract.
- Perform a variety of tasks involved in the construction and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities; conduct visual examinations and operational tests to determine the need for repair work.
- Work may occur in extreme weather conditions or at heights for extended periods and may involve direct contact with test personnel.
- General maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
- Various duties including replacing electrical components, patching walls, repairing fixtures, painting, concrete repairs, doors and locks, window panes, and general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Support of AFSOC shift work.
- Maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, fixtures/targets and utilities, using trades such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, cement work, painting, small engine repair, hydraulics, tower maintenance, and related duties.
Education/Experience Requirements: Incumbents must have either formal training (vocational certification or military service school training or certified apprenticeship) in at least one of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, concrete strength testing, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, small engine repair or painting, and 3 years of combined experience in at least two of the trades listed;
or 5 years verifiable experience in at least two of the listed disciplines.
May be required to handle hazardous materials and/or collect hazardous waste. May require housekeeping duties in assigned work areas. Other duties may include vehicle maintenance, environmental, safety, and security tasks. Required to use and wear appropriate safety equipment. Overtime and weekend support may be required.
Other RequirementsThis position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Selected candidates must undergo and pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement.
Work EnvironmentWill be required to work outside in hot and cold weather.
Physical DemandsRequires good physical conditioning; ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, crawl, and work in awkward positions. Ability to work at heights may be required.
