Plumbing Technician Job Description

Position Title: Plumbing Technician

Reports To: Facilities Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Plumbing Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in a restaurant setting. This role ensures all plumbing work meets company standards, safety regulations, and customer expectations while delivering excellent service and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, and install plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, water heaters, drains, and sewer lines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of plumbing systems.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Read blueprints and technical drawings when required.
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal plumbing codes.
  • Maintain accurate service records, invoices, and job documentation.
  • Provide clear communication with customers regarding services, repairs, and recommendations.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • On call availability as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • State plumbing license or apprentice/journeyman certification (as required by local regulations).
  • 2+ years of plumbing experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or varying weather conditions.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with commercial plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of water heaters and sewer line diagnostics.
  • Experience using plumbing diagnostic tools and technology.
  • Basic computer skills for service documentation.
Work Environment
  • Field‑based role requiring travel to restaurant locations.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and confined spaces.
  • May require evening, weekend, or emergency service hours.
