Trades ​/ Skilled Labor Technician, Installation Technician

Overview

Trans Core (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Technician I to join our team in Bonifay, FL.

Summary: Performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of company product(s). This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation. Determines most effective means to install equipment to maximize efficiency.

• Installs equipment including but not limited to cameras, detectors, controller cabinets.
• Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, fiber optic cable, pull boxes, conduit, poles and foundations.
• Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
• Tests devices to ensure they work correctly.
• Prepares and completes reports, logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures and local practices.
• Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame.
• Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues.
• Reports the technical status of the system with accuracy and completeness.

• Typically requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience.
• Must obtain a CDL Class B within six months of starting employment.
• Must successfully complete required background/drug screening that Trans Core initiates as part of the hiring process; additionally, when required by project, must successfully complete a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen.
• Through knowledge of current desktop technologies and communications software, including Windows 2000, XP, serial communications, and TCP/IP concept.
• Knowledge of requesting and performing utility Locates.
• AC / DC Electricity experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
• Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.
• Driving is a key requirement for this position. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record at all times, during employment.

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
