Department: This position is within the Florida State University department of Public Safety.

This position is responsible for the security of Florida State University s main campus. The specific location of the assignment will be as needed by the department.

This position provides a uniform security presence to deter and prevent criminal, unsafe, or potentially dangerous activity on Florida State University s main campus. This position will specifically provide safety and security services for the Oglesby Student Union and adjacent areas (for their normal job duties). Using various patrol methods, this position will observe and analyze any suspicious persons and incidents on or adjacent to FSU properties and reports these matters to the police department.

This position will assist FSU staff, Police and emergency personnel during emergencies or disruptive situations. This position will have the responsibility to challenge or report unauthorized or suspicious subjects to FSUPD immediately and to maintain visual contact of trespassers or suspicious persons and assist in coordinating the police response to intercept these persons. This position will also report any facility or property safety/security concerns to the appropriate staff, so these matters can be evaluated and addressed.

Will have the responsibility to respond to emergencies, and/or unusual, suspicious, or extraordinary conditions. Will notify law enforcement personnel of suspicious incidents, criminal activity or other safety situations. Will patrol and monitor student union and surrounding FSU facilities and properties to ensure the safety and well-being of the campus and visitors.

Provides frequent inspections of their assigned security equipment, portable radio, vehicles and notify their supervisor of any new equipment needs and any equipment repair/replacement needs.

Will work special events or special assignments, which might be outside their normal work hours (such as sporting events, VIP details, etc.). Will be trained and required to perform duties regarding crowd control and traffic direction (vehicular and pedestrian).

Required to perform any additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Police, or their designee, not otherwise prohibited by law or regulations.

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience. (

post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)

• Ability to meet the physical demands of this position including moving up to 30lbs
• A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
