Overview
Your Purpose
As a critical member of the Brightline Safety & Security team, you will monitor and patrol our modern stations, engaging in professional security practices while enforcing procedures to control access. You will work in a small team, report to a supervisor, have high guest interaction, and use technology to screen guests and belongings. If you take pride in providing security at the highest level while staying alert and respectful to everyone, this is the job for you.
Role
- Enforce all policies and procedures set forth by the management team.
- Conduct safety and security patrols on foot in all assigned areas.
- Observe and report suspicious behavior or unusual situations that may affect security or safety.
- Sound alarms or contact police/fire department as needed in security or safety situations.
- Conduct checkpoint screening of guests and luggage in a professional manner using X-ray machines and wands.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment and current certification to operate screening equipment.
- Handle and resolve difficult guest inquiries and complaints in coordination with Brightline entities; respond to questions from guests and outside agencies.
- Maintain logs and provide required reports, including investigative documents.
- Cordially respond to requests for assistance.
- Remain focused and vigilant in a busy environment to control access through assigned posts in line with Brightline’s security initiatives.
- Monitor CCTV and all intrusion/fire alarm systems.
- Monitor Brightline communication channels, including the intranet (bConnected), during work hours to ensure timely review of communications and notifications.
Required Education and Experience:
- Energetic with a focused personality and the ability to take charge.
- Vigilant while moving, active or mobile, and also while stationary for long periods.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments.
- Ability to interact with a diverse population and work as a team player.
- Detail-oriented with dignity and respect for others.
- Good listening skills and the ability to assess situations quickly and effectively.
- Strong communication skills to share information quickly and succinctly.
- Calm under pressure, especially in emergencies.
- Prepared to work toward and obtain security licensure before operations begin.
- One year of experience as a Licensed “Class D” security officer is a PLUS but not required.
- Minimum of 18 years old; able to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
- English proficiency at a High School level (speak, read, write).
- Predictable work schedule preferred, but capability to take last-minute shifts is a PLUS.
- Multilingual ability is a PLUS.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Experience managing projects in Retail, Food and Beverage, or other ancillary revenue products.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail and data-driven decision making.
- Ability to interact effectively with guests, management, teammates, and outside contacts under pressure and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
