** Monday – Friday (excluding holidays), either 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
** Overview
* * The Sarasota Police Department is seeking friendly, dependable volunteers to serve as Front Desk Assistants. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for community members visiting or calling the department. Your support will help create a welcoming environment and ensure visitors are guided to the resources they need.
** Essential Functions
*** Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the appropriate department or staff member.
* Greet visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
* Provide guidance on accessing records, reclaiming property, or other public services.
* Assist visitors in filing basic police reports through the crime reporting kiosk.
* Maintain a helpful presence at the assigned front desk, balancing both seated and standing duties.
* Provides support to assigned department and participates in performing duties tasked by the department.
* Participates in departmental planning sessions for both day-to-day activities and special projects.
* Works under the general or specific guidelines as to Department policy and practice.
* The intent of this class description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that would be required of classifications given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position. Incumbent may be required to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in the job description.
** Minimum Qualifications
*** High School diploma or GED.
* Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Comfortable using computers and kiosks(training provided)
* Professional, friendly demeanor with a commitment to public service.

* Ability to communicate ideas, both verbally and in writing, with clarity and precision.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, superiors, officials of the City, and the general public.
