QualificationsRequired
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., certificate of high school equivalency.
Required Experience: One (1) year of relevant, job-related work experience.
Required Certification/License/Registry:
- Successful completion of the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program (provided by the Supervisor/Security).
- Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) credential from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS).
- Blue Card certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
- American Red Cross (ARC) first aid certification.
Preferred Certification/License/Registry:
- Must earn the following to advance to Public Safety Officer III (JC: 080207):
- TASER certification from a certified instructor.
- Handcuff certification from a certified instructor.
Your Role:
- Intermediate-level (unarmed) security officer position.
- Ensures colleagues,’ patients,’ and visitors’ safety; patrols and surveils all hospital campus areas and responds to emergencies quickly and appropriately.
- Displays an understanding of diversity.
- Demonstrates integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence (I CARE values).
- Enhances and contributes to a safe environment for all colleagues, visitors, and patients.
- Patrols and surveils hospital campus; provides unarmed security.
- Responds to emergencies and drills (e.g., infant/child abductions (“code pinks”), fires (“code reds”), disasters (“code greens”) and violent/security events (“code greys”).
- Investigates thefts, burglaries, automobile collisions, and other violations.
- Delivers medication and emergency shipments.
- Assists staff members with patients.
- Completes required training.
- Performs miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.
