Job Description:

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections of complex aerospace hardware in accordance with contractual, drawing, and specification requirements. This role requires advanced knowledge of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and inspection methodologies to ensure product conformity. The Inspector will work under stamp warranty authority, performing product acceptance on behalf of Aerojet Rocketdyne, and will partner closely with Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) and Quality Management.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform detailed in-process and final inspections on machined parts, composites, and complex assemblies to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Perform final data package review per contractual requirements for final electronic acceptance with stamp warranty.
  • Apply advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge to validate product conformity.
  • Utilize a variety of inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gages, visual aids, and other precision measurement instruments).
  • Interpret and analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure proper inspection coverage.
  • Collaborate with assigned Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) and Quality Managers to resolve nonconformances, drive corrective actions, and support continuous improvement.
  • Support supplier quality activities, which may include travel across the country for on-site inspections, sometimes with immediate deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at minimum.
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of prior relevant quality inspection experience in aerospace or a highly regulated industry.
  • 6 years experience and knowledge in:
    • GD&T principles and applications.
    • Complex assemblies, machined parts, and composite structures.
    • Inspection methods, processes, and documentation practices.
  • Prior experience in inspection tool usage, including hand tools, precision measurement instruments, and visual inspection aids.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Prior experience communicating (verbal and written) to interface with suppliers, engineers, and management.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • May require ability and willingness to travel on short notice for supplier inspections across the U.S. Approximately 50% travel.
Preferred Additional

Skills:
  • Experience with composite and assembly inspections.
  • Prior aerospace industry experience supporting supplier quality or source inspection activities.
  • Familiarity with nonconformance documentation, corrective action processes, and supplier quality systems.
  • Experience performing independent product acceptance under stamp warranty.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems and contractual compliance requirements.
  • AS9102 FAIR Requirements.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector preferred.
