The Town of Fort Myers Beach is seeking a dependable and proactive Marine Operator to help maintain waterfront facilities and support daily operations within the Mooring Field and surrounding areas. Must be able to work Saturdays and Sundays, with two additional weekday shifts scheduled for six hours per day.

Town of Fort Myers Beach waterfront facilities and Mooring Field.
Summary:
The Marine Operator is responsible for routine maintenance, cleanliness, and general upkeep of Town-owned marine facilities and equipment, including the Mooring Field, restrooms, docks, parking areas, and all navigable waterways within the Town’s jurisdiction. The role also provides daily customer service support to Mooring Field patrons, including managing reservations and responding to inquiries.
- Maintain mooring field facilities, equipment, buoys, signage, and navigational aids, including underwater diving inspections and cleanings
- Assist boaters with check-ins, mooring assignments, and general inquiries about harbor rules, weather, and water conditions
- Inspect vessels, docks, and mooring systems for regulatory compliance; report safety or maintenance issues
- Provide emergency vessel assistance and conduct pump-outs as needed
- Clean and maintain Town facilities, restrooms, and grounds; perform landscaping, pressure washing, painting, and minor construction
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, irrigation systems, lighting, and building equipment
- Operate and maintain marine and work equipment; ensure tools and vehicles are safe and functional
- Conduct daily trash removal and assist with Town-wide maintenance and public works tasks
- Monitor inventory of supplies and materials; request quotes and order replacements as necessary
- Respond to reports of oil or hazardous spills and coordinate with authorities as required
- Operate drones to monitor vessel placement and mooring system conditions
- Maintain administrative records, including timesheets, inspection logs, and maintenance reports
- Attend required trainings and meetings and participate in emergency response efforts
- Drive Town vehicles and perform other duties as assigned to support municipal operations

Requirements Education, Certification, and Experience- High school diploma or equivalent certificate
- One (1) year of experience in marina services and/or related fields
- Experience in operational maintenance/management of a moderately sized marina/docking facility or similar water-related business preferred
- Enroll and successfully pass the Florida Boater License and Safety courses and Ostego Bay Oil Spill Co-op course within three (3) months of hire date
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and obtain a valid Florida Driver’s License within 30 days of hire or promotion
- Commercial Driver’s License with Hazardous Materials endorsement preferred
- FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 and 800 certification or completion within 30 days of hire
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and regulations for safe vessel operations
- Knowledge of groundskeeping, housekeeping, and building maintenance practices
- Knowledge of paints, sealers, and stains application
- Knowledge of safety standards and precautions for tools and equipment
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for streets, grounds, and facilities, plus boating skills and vessel towing operations
