Lion Country Safari is looking to add a full‑time licensed Veterinary Technician to the dynamic hospital team. Located in Loxahatchee, Florida—just west of West Palm Beach—the park is home to over 650 animals across a 320‑acre preserve, offering ample opportunities for field immobilization of species including chimpanzees, non‑domestic hoofstock, lions, rhinos, avian species, small ruminants, and reptiles.
GeneralJob Description
- Assisting veterinarians in routine health procedures, field immobilizations, administration of medicine and anesthetics, husbandry, surgery, necropsy, and related tasks.
- Performing in‑house laboratory procedures.
- Preparing samples for external labs.
- Maintaining accurate fade, ordering hospital supplies, and inventory.
- Caring for and observing animals in the Wildlife Hospital and keeping hospital areas clean and orderly.
- Graduate of an American Veterinary Medical Association Accredited Veterinary Technology Program.
- At least one year of zoological/exotic animal experienced.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and be available for emergency work.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat and lift up to 70 lbs.
- Understanding of the physical and health risks of working with wildlife.
- Ability to work independent or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
