ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSE -
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) will deliver comprehensive, evidence-based clinical care to clients seeking maternity, family planning, and STD services.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct thorough prenatal, postpartum, and reproductive health assessments.
- Diagnose and manage routine conditions related to maternal, gynecological, and pregnancy care.
- Prescribe medications and coordinate prenatal care plans using evidence-based practices.
- Perform routine screenings, including fetal monitoring, ultrasounds, and relevant lab tests.
- Educate patients and families on pregnancy, postpartum care, and contraceptive options.
- Obtain medical histories, conduct physical assessments, and determine appropriate contraceptive methods.
- Initiate and manage the contraceptive method of choice after informed evaluation.
- Provide non-prescriptive contraceptives, fit diaphragms, and administer Depo-Provera.
- Insert and remove IUDs and long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs).
- Deliver inter-conceptual and pre-conceptual health counseling and services.
- Guide decisions regarding oral contraceptive use and provide pregnancy testing and counseling.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat common STDs and minor gynecological issues.
- Offer HIV pre-counseling and post-counseling as appropriate.
- Conduct PAP smears and coordinate follow-up for abnormal results.
- Refer clients to specialized gynecologic services (e.g., cryocautery, colposcopy) as needed.
- Maintain complete and accurate client records according to program guidelines.
- Exercise sound professional judgment and seek medical consultation when needed.
- Provide verbal and written contraceptive instructions and obtain informed consent.
- Perform ongoing client reassessments, education, and counseling.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Support the integration of maternity care services within the clinic and assist in improving workflows.
- Provide guidance and clinical leadership to nursing and support staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, procedures, and public health guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maternity program development.
- Advanced knowledge of nursing practice
- Strong communication, leadership, and patient education skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with F.S. 464
- One year of clinical experience, preferably in OB/GYN, prenatal, or women’s health care
- National certification in Women’s Health, Family Practice, or Midwifery
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and documentation standards

- Standard clinic hours with occasional extended shifts, based on patient needs
