FL-DOH-Chattahoochee-CNA – This facility operates 24/7. Candidate may be required to work a 16‑hour shift as needed.
Candidate will need to attend a full two‑week orientation, working Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑4:30 pm.
Work EnvironmentThis is a State of Florida Psychiatric Hospital that operates 24/7, 7 days a week. It currently has 223 buildings on campus with a capacity of 1,042 patients. The hospital’s current Administration Building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Type of PatientsTwo categories of patients are treated at the hospital: those civilly committed under Statute 394 (a small portion of residents) and those forensically committed under Statute 916. The civil portion houses adults and elderly individuals who have been civilly committed to the hospital; forensic residents who have been “stepped down” to the civil unit are also housed here. The civil units are also known as Forensic Transition units.
Forensic ward entry has security guards and a metal detector.
- Assist with all aspects of resident care as assigned by the nurse/shift supervisor, including activities of daily living, ambulation, mobility, and nutrition.
- Observe, identify, and report resident concerns or needs to the shift supervisor.
- Document information factually and objectively within the acceptable timeframe as defined by facility policy.
- Provide safe and supportive observation and effectively monitor assigned residents.
- Complete assignments timely, completely, accurately and in a cooperative manner.
- Provide the necessary assistance when giving residents the following activities of daily living nursing care: oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, grooming, hair and nail care, shaving, toileting, eating and drinking, and mobility.
- Assist with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health‑related tasks.
- Display professionalism throughout employment, including, but not limited to, arriving to work on time, maintaining an accurate timesheet, and maintaining professional appearance as defined by facility policy.
- Ability to speak and understand English.
- Ability to pass a level 2 fingerprinting.
- Must have a current State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant license.
- Must have current CPR certification or be able to complete once hired.
- Intervention with combative persons may be required.
- Ability to stay alert for up to a 16‑hour shift.
- Able to lift and carry 25 lbs.
- Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop and kneel.
