Purpose and Scope
Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy by complying with all regulatory and company policy requirements. Functions as part of the hemodialysis health‑care team providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients under RN supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for assigned patients.
- Perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures, monitor treatment parameters, and document care.
- Report significant patient condition changes or equipment problems to the supervisor.
- Educate patients and families on end‑stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medications.
- Assist with emergency operational procedures and administer intravenous medication per physician orders.
- Initiate basic CPR measures during cardiac or pulmonary arrest and respond to emergency dialysis situations.
- Safely operate dialysis equipment, perform minor troubleshooting, and maintain a clean, sanitary environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, care planning sessions, and in‑service classes.
- Act as a resource for other staff and coordinate care with physicians, dietitians, and social workers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Frequent heavy lifting and patient ambulation, frequent standing, bending, and occasional transport of equipment up to 200 lbs. Requires travel between facilities and regional meetings. Work is performed in a health‑care facility with controlled temperature and moderate noise levels, with potential exposure to infectious materials.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN).
- Current state licensure.
Experience and Required Skills
- One year of medical‑surgical nursing experience preferred; hemodyalysis experience preferred but not required.
- Completed training in hemodialysis theory and practice.
- Current CPR certification.
- Completion of Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire.
- Ability to provide coverage at area facilities during short‑staffing.
- Meet color‑blindness test requirement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
