Job Functions:

This position is responsible for the daily operation and management of the dish room area.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Operates dish room, assuring all items used to prepare food or eat food are cleaned according to Health Department standards.
  • Receives all delivery items. Distributes delivery items to appropriate storage location including the food warehouse or kitchen storage area.
  • Manages dish room volunteers.
  • Maintains cleanliness in the food service area, per Department of Health standards.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Cross trains and functions in all aspects of food services including food preparation, cleaning, utility duties, serving meals, preparing partner site meals when needed.
  • Meets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of the team and organizational goals as stated on the KPI and in the annual plan. Supports the team in other tasks as assigned. Supports the Holiday Center, Bridge Builders Luncheon, and other fundraising events as directed.
  • Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    High School diploma or GED completed; prior food service experience required.

    Skill Requirements:

    This position requires the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary framework;
    Must be willing to be cross-trained and utilized throughout the Food Services department. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally as well as in writing. Must demonstrate a heart for the ministry of serving poor and homeless families. The position requires a degree of maturity, sensitivity to issues of faith, cross cultural and diversity issues, and the social skill to handle job-related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner.

    Requires the ability to supervise both individual and group volunteers. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, staff, and volunteers.

    Physical Requirements:

    Must be able to tolerate outdoor temperatures consistent with Florida climate and endure prolonged standing/walking/bending/stooping and stretching. Must be able to relocate materials in a safe and proper manner. Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability as to take part in and provide sound oral communication and information. Must have the physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress.

    Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more.

    Other:

    Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States and pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures. Must be able to work flexible schedules during the holiday season (October-December) and special events. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Valid FL drivers license with a good driving record and insured vehicle in order to transport self and clients when necessary.
