Heavy Equipment Operator
12 months Contract

Shift: 1st (6 AM to 2:30 PM)
Pay rate: DEPEND UPON EXPERIENCE
Job Summary: Responsible for efficiently preparing organic mixes using a heavy equipment loader, ensuring segregation of materials, and maintaining a continuous flow of material to the machines.

Competencies:
l Proficiency in operating and maintaining heavy equipment, specifically loaders and dozers.
l Skill in maintaining stockpile slopes to ensure a safe work environment.
l Ability to endure extended periods of sitting in a loader within a dusty, hot environment.
l Capability to climb into and out of equipment repeatedly.
l Knowledge of safe practices and procedures related to heavy equipment operation.
l Effective communication skills and the ability to read English and/or follow instructions.
l Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions (e.g., dusty, hot/cold/rainy weather).
l Readiness to work mandatory overtime, including weekends and holidays.
Major
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
l Prepares organic mixes by following the Bill of Materials to ensure the correct ingredients are used in the correct proportions.
l Supplies the production line with a continuous and consistent flow of material.
l Utilizes heavy equipment to push piles, ensuring setbacks, pile height, and stockpile shaping meet the criteria set by the Department of Environmental Health Services.
l Conducts safety and equipment checks before each use of the loader, prioritizing a safe working environment.
l Receives load tickets from haulers, ensures accuracy, signs, accumulates tickets until the end of the day, and submits them in a neat and clean appearance to the office personnel for inventory entry.
l Safely pumps diesel fuel into the loader using an electrical pump, following all safety practices to prevent injuries.
l Monitors stockpiles for excessive heat, turns stockpiles, and ensures the proper amount of water is used to prepare them for production use.
l Meets quality and quantity standards for the prepared organic mixes.
l Performs the proper operation and minor maintenance of equipment, emphasizing proactive care to avoid breakdowns.
l Accurately verifies the quantity of material, ensuring consistency and adherence to specifications.
