Job Summary    The Commercial Prefabrication Pipefitter is responsible for accurately assembling and fabricating pipe spools and mechanical systems according to engineering drawings and specifications within a controlled shop environment. This role contributes to the efficient and high-quality production of plumbing and mechanical components for various commercial projects.

Job Responsibilities      Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) to determine pipe system layouts, materials, and fabrication requirements.
Measure, cut, thread, groove, and bend pipe using various hand and power tools, including saws, threaders, and pipe benders.
Fit and assemble pipes, valves, fittings, and other components according to specifications, ensuring proper alignment, spacing, and support.
Conduct hydrostatic or pneumatic testing of fabricated assemblies to ensure leak-free operation and adherence to quality standards.
Inspect completed pipe spools and assemblies for conformance to drawings, specifications, and quality control procedures.
Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to move pipe and fabricated components.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Collaborate effectively with shop managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met.
Identify and report any discrepancies, errors, or issues with drawings, materials, or equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
Job Qualifications      High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational training program or apprenticeship in pipe fitting is highly preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a pipefitter, specifically in a commercial or industrial prefabrication setting.
Demonstrated experience with various pipe joining methods, including welding (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW), threading, grooving, and brazing.
Ability to perform accurate measurements and calculations.
Strong understanding of pipe materials, sizes, and applicable codes (e.g., ASME, API).
Experience operating a variety of pipe fitting tools and equipment, including pipe cutters, threaders, grinders, and welding machines.
Forklift and/or overhead crane certification is a plus.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks in a shop environment.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
