Position Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key executive leader responsible for overseeing daily operations and long-term operational strategy. This role will ensure the community delivers exceptional resident care, achieves operational excellence, and meets organizational objectives. The COO reports to the CEO and supports direct reports in fostering a culture of hospitality and resident-centered service.
Responsibilities- Operational Leadership
- Provide strategic and hands-on leadership for all operational departments including Dining Services, Building and Environmental Services, Life Enrichment, Resident Services, and Information Technology.
- Develop and implement operational policies and performance standards that support the community.
- Financial & Business Performance
- Collaborate with CFO to develop and manage annual budgets for all operational departments.
- Lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies and cost savings without compromising resident needs.
- Strategic Planning & Growth
- Support the CEO and Board in executing strategic plans, capital improvement projects, and long-range community development.
- Support technology initiatives to elevate operational performance and resident engagement.
- Team Leadership & Culture Building
- Collaborate with CPCO to support recruitment, workforce planning, training, and retention strategies.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate direct reports to build a team focused on delivering high quality hospitality for residents.
- Collaboration & Partnerships
- Work closely with leadership team members to achieve community-wide objectives.
- Build relationships internally and externally and with vendors and community partners.
Secondary Responsibilities: Every incidental duty connected with the Chief Operating Officer position cannot be specified in the job description. The COO, at the discretion of the CEO, may be required to perform duties that are not included in this job description.
Educational/Professional Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Florida Nursing Home Administrator License required or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Three to five years’ progressive leadership experience in senior living or other healthcare environment.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must have operated a multi-functional business in a fiscally responsible way.
- Strong working knowledge of the cultural differentiators within a faith-based, mission driven organization and the impact that culture has on business operations. Ability to support organizational values.
- Strong project management skills, critical thinking skills with proven ability to establish goals, timelines and action plans as well as follow-through.
- Passion for the mission of the organization; outgoing, highly visible and accessible.
- Always striving for excellence, continuous improvement and alignment with the organizational strategy.
- Organized and focused on multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
