Water Quality Manager

Metro Lagoons is growing fast, and we’re looking for experienced water quality leaders to grow with us. This is a hands‑on, field‑based management role for someone who knows water systems, leads from the front, and takes pride in keeping a world‑class lagoon safe, clean, and guest‑ready.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise the water quality team responsible for lagoon cleanliness and safety.
  • Make daily labor and expense decisions.
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members.
  • Monitor performance, provide feedback, and conduct evaluations.
  • Address performance issues consistently and professionally, including discipline when needed.
  • Ensure all team members maintain required licenses and certifications.
  • Maintain lagoon water chemistry, sanitation, flow, and filtration to required standards.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on pumps, filters, circulation systems, feeders, and sanitation equipment.
  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate preventative maintenance logs, procedures, and checklists.
  • Manage monthly inventory of chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
  • Order all lagoon‑related supplies and materials.
  • Coordinate and work with vendors involved in lagoon cleaning and maintenance.
  • Supervise non‑water‑related maintenance projects as assigned.
  • Inspect operations daily and address issues in real time.
  • Monitor key metrics and resolve problems directly in the field.
  • Serve as a visible leader in the lagoon environment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or degree‑seeking) preferred.
  • 3–4+ years of experience in water quality, pool, aquatic, or related operations.
  • Strong understanding of water chemistry, filtration, and sanitation systems.
  • Comfortable working in the water and outdoors daily.
  • Able to swim and work in the lagoon for extended periods.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to pass required water certification within first 90 days.
  • CPO or similar certification preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a drug/background screening.
Schedule & Availability
  • 8–10 hour shifts, 5 days per week.
  • Morning and evening shifts.
  • Evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
  • Both weekend days required during peak season.
