About Our Job
Maintain cleanliness, functionality, safety, and security of County facilities. Clean buildings exterior and interior. Perform general custodial cleaning inside and outside. Clean up grounds and parking lots. Operates related equipment. Documents time.
Responsibilities- Provide key services to 23 buildings daily, including the new South Courthouse, four libraries, Robert Anderson Administration Center, and 5 key parks.
- Empty exterior trash around buildings and in parking lots.
- Pick up debris from around buildings, parking lots and dumpster areas. Sweep or blow off sidewalks/walkways around buildings.
- Clean restrooms if not under contract or requires secondary cleaning due to heavy usage.
- Clean buildings interiors if not under contract or requires secondary cleaning.
- Inspect buildings and report all unsafe conditions to Supervisor.
- Inspect custodial contractors' work, monitor storeroom supplies, refill when needed.
- Public Meetings.
- Replace flag and dispose of properly.
- Perform building safety checks, Test AED batteries, Inspect Fire extinguishers.
- Back up other Trades Workers upon request and other duties as assigned.
- The above duties are daily; below are as requested or per work order schedule.
- Perform light building maintenance work in county owned and operated facilities to include but not limited to: assist Skilled Trades Workers with projects/repairs.
- Change lamps/bulbs as needed, touch-up paint.
- Use of gas-powered pressure washing equipment on building exteriors/hard finishes.
- Hang pictures, signs, banners, etc.
- Hang restroom dispensers (i.e., toilet paper, soap, hand towel, seat covers).
- Unclog toilet with use of plunger or hand auger.
- Replace faulty flush valve diaphragms.
- Cut and install ceiling tile, repair ceiling grid as needed.
- Level/reset pavers on county property to eliminate trip hazards.
- Minor concrete patchwork/crack filling.
- Parking block repairs/installs.
- Repairs to county owned furniture.
- Door adjustments/replace hardware.
- Other misc. duties/tasks as needed.
- Complete the proper paperwork for work order management system. Generate digital job tickets as required.
- Position serves as part of an On-Call rotation.
- Work Hours:
40 Hours Per Week. Typical work schedule will be Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; schedules may vary due to split shift coverage needs, rotations, on call, emergencies, etc. - Work location may vary.
- Hours will generally be the same each day, but the start and end times may vary between 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. based on work assignment and location.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or its equivalent and
- One year of experience in the applicable trade.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License at time of hire.
- Familiarity with work order Maintenance Management Systems.
Knowledge of green cleaning products and their use as well as floor scrubbers and other mechanical equipment used in the custodial industry. Able to use hand tools, cordless power tools and lawn equipment. Able to learn locations of main shut off valves and main circuit breakers and evacuation plans for every building to which they are assigned. Basic computer skills, able to learn work order management program and Smartsheet program.
Strong customer service skills, good verbal communication skills, organized and process oriented.
Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Substance ScreeningThis position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
