Utilities​/Maintenance Worker

Summary

A Utility Worker is responsible for ensuring that buildings and the areas surrounding them are clean, well-lit, functional and safe. To this end, a Utility Worker job description may include the following duties:

• Maintain all areas of the plant clear of excessive wood and debris
• Ensure grass areas are kept cut and free of debris
• Sweep walk-paths and empty all garbage bins throughout the plant
• Restrooms, offices and breakroom to be maintained
• Restock restroom paper and soap as needed and check to make sure the toilets are in working order
• Paint inside and outside structures as instructed by management
• Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects as directed
• Maintain the supplies and equipment needed for cleaning
• Follow all health and safety rules

• Must be a self-starter and work independently with limited supervision
• Proven working experience performing cleaning and upkeep tasks
• Experience in painting
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
• Have a good working knowledge of cleaning procedures and safety practices
• Must be able to read, speak and comprehend English language

• Hight school degree required
