OPS –Sergeant at Arms Office (Housekeeping)
General Summary
The Sergeant at Arms Office is recruiting multiple individuals to support its Housekeeping and Janitorial Services area. These positions serve in a temporary, time-limited capacity. The hours per week may vary from 20 to 40 hours, with some occasional evening hours.
Individuals may anticipate employment between December 2025 – March 2026.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Makes deliveries and runs errands as required.
- Keeps chamber, offices, halls, and restrooms clean.
- Performs routine janitorial duties in maintaining general orderliness and cleanliness on an as needed basis.
- Makes minor repairs of office furniture and equipment.
- Disburses expendable materials and supplies for official use.
- Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies as required.
- Assists with the taking of supply and property inventories.
- Responsible for removing office trash and other discarded office items.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
- Knowledge of record keeping procedures.
- Knowledge of the procedures and methods used in the cleaning, repairing, and maintenance of buildings.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to organize work, follow, and interpret instructions.
- Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to recognize dangerous or potentially dangerous situations.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to follow office procedures and practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to maintain orderliness and cleanliness of an assigned area.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or its equivalent or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Hourly rate of pay is $15.00
