SENIOR ATTORNEY -
This position has been assigned to the General Administrative, Regulatory and Rule Making Practice Group. This Practice Group will provide the Department clear and consistent advice and counsel on general administrative matters, statutory/regulatory interpretations, legislative analysis, rule drafting and legal subject matter experts regarding agency substantive duties.
This position is responsible for providing statutory/regulatory interpretations and guidance to assigned agency programs.
Prepares programmatic legislative analyses and legal reviews.
Prepares written legal opinions interpreting federal and state law, administrative rules, and case law.
Consults with and advises staff on a variety of complex legal issues. Reviews all policies and procedures applicable to assigned headquarters activities and programs for legal implications, including the policy’s relationship to federal and state law.
Provides oversight of agency rule making for assigned agency programs. Assists in drafting administrative rules and is responsible for adopting rules pursuant to the Administrative Procedures Act.
Performs other duties as required by assigned Practice Group Leader, the Deputy General Counsel, or the General Counsel.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of Microsoft Office software, knowledge of rule making authority and process; knowledge of civil and administrative proceedings and procedures, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
QualificationsLaw degree (L.L.B. or J.D.) and five years of professional experience in the practice of law. Must be a member of the Florida Bar.
