ResponsibilitiesThis position will provide advanced support and expertise for the Enterprise Storage Services. Storage team members provide consultation and technical assistance to management and customers regarding the administration, design and maintenance of the equipment used to provide data storage in multiple environments. The incumbent in this position is responsible for supporting the Enterprise Storage service offerings of the organization. This position is responsible for supporting all areas of the Storage / SAN environment including, but not limited to, systems administration, monitoring, reporting, hardware installation and support, software installation and support, storage provisioning, and customer service.
Operates and tunes storage platforms across the organization to ensure high levels of data quality, availability and security. Ensures storage provisioning, efficiency and maintenance is consistent with customer/organizational goals and industry best practices. This position is also responsible for providing the technical direction and architecture to implement and manage highly advanced and complex enterprise storage, server, and infrastructure for NWRDC and its City, State, College, University and K-12 customers.
Provides technical expertise on complex applications and problems to NWRDC and its customers. Install and configure storage devices and corresponding software. Anticipate, mitigate, identify, respond to and resolve issues with storage devices, storage access and data retrieval. Assists in the design of integrated solutions for complex systems comprised of multiple technologies including, SAN or NAS based storage, physical and virtual servers, and various hardware components.
Acts as custodian of the system architecture process that interfaces with project, program, and service managers to provide guidance on the scope and direction of solutions. Formulates and defines system specifications and objectives through analysis of technology trends and NWRDC and Customer needs. Coordinate with Assistant Directors and storage and service managers on efforts to keep NWRDC technology base current and up to date.
Develop both technical and budget plans for technology refresh programs. Perform tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements with customers regarding storage allocations, limitations, security and availability. Investigate new technologies that could be of possible benefit to NWRDC and its Customers. Coordinate with vendors on new technologies. Develop training programs to keep NWRDC staff up to date in new technologies.
Assists the Storage Manager in monitoring, analyzing and predicting trends for storage equipment performance, space allocation and data growth to recommend enhancements to the IT storage team. Participates in an after-hours support and/or team on-call rotation in support of a 24x7 data center. Works with NWRDC Management Team in data center planning, operation, customer relations, policy implementation and fiscal planning.
Works with the Assistant Directors and Executive Director in developing and maintaining a rate structure for services that ensures cost recovery in an efficient manner for all NWRDC customers. Follow change control, incident response and testing processes for modifications to storage appliances and software. Establish appropriate customer access control levels for stored data. Advises and mentors NWRDC staff to new and emerging technologies as well as the current implementations.
Other duties as assigned. Participates in approved professional development opportunities per NWRDC's policy. Professional development and training is defined as learning undertaken by the employee to maintain and advance their skills, knowledge and competencies, specifically as they relate and add value to the job and workplace.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and six years experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and ten years or experience. (

Ability to obtain a Security Awareness Training Certificate
Preferred Qualifications- Preference will be given to individuals in the Tallahassee area with experience/certifications using Cisco MDS 9000 series switches, Dell EMC Power Scale, and Hitachi storage products to include block and file structures; as well as knowledge of VMware storage and backup processes.
