The Associate Director of Information Technology is the primary execution leader responsible for day-to-day delivery, operational execution, and integration coordination across all programs operated by Florida Prepaid, including the Florida Prepaid College Plan, Florida 529 Investment Plan, ABLE United, and the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.
Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Associate Director focuses on executing enterprise technology priorities, resolving operational and delivery issues, and coordinating vendors and internal teams, while developing the judgment and leadership capability required for future director-level accountability.
Execute Enterprise Technology Operations and System Reliability- Oversees day-to-day operation of systems of record and enterprise platforms
- Monitors system performance, availability, and service stability across programs
- Leads coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve operational technology issues
- Ensures timely escalation of service disruptions, control gaps, or unresolved operational concerns
- Coordinates execution of system integrators, managed service providers, and technology consultants
- Tracks vendor performance against contractual expectations and service levels
- Assists with operational support (O&M) activities and system enhancements
- Identifies delivery risks and escalates security‑ or risk‑related concerns to the CIO and enterprise risk leadership
- Supports implementation of enterprise technology policies, standards, and controls
- Coordinates documentation and evidence for audits, assessments, and reviews
- Supports execution of cybersecurity controls and operational response activities as directed by enterprise security leadership
- Assists in identifying operational technology issues and escalates potential risk conditions through established governance channels
- Works with operations, growth, investments, and compliance teams to support technology delivery needs
- Assists in assessing technology impacts of new initiatives and system changes
- Supports testing, deployment coordination, and change readiness activities
- Ensures execution aligns with enterprise priorities and approved governance
- Provides functional leadership and guidance to technology staff and analysts
- Supports skill development, documentation, and knowledge transfer
- Reinforces enterprise delivery standards and operational discipline
- Prepares for expanded leadership responsibility over time
- Supports management of technology activities within approved budgets
- Tracks vendor costs and operational expenditures
- Identifies potential cost pressures, delivery inefficiencies, or recurring operational issues
- Ensures compliance with procurement, financial, and governance requirements
Job Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in information technology, MIS, business, computer science or a related field and six years of progressively responsible experience in information technology operations, systems support, or vendor-managed environments. Or, a combination of education and/or experience equal to the minimum requirements pursuant to 112.219, Florida Statutes.
Preferences:- A post-graduate degree from an accredited college or university in finance, computer science, or a related field
- An exam-based certification or license in a related field or function
- Experience operating within or alongside public-sector governance structures
- Experience with CRM platforms, enterprise systems, or cloud-based environments
- Experience coordinating outsourced technology services
- Knowledge of enterprise information technology operations and service delivery models
- Knowledge of vendor-managed technology environments and service level oversight
- Knowledge of technology, governance, controls, and cybersecurity fundamentals
- Ability to support reliable execution of enterprise technology services
- Ability to identify operational risks and escalate issues appropriately
- Skill in coordinating vendors, staff, and cross-functional partners
- Skill in supporting audits, assessments, and control documentation
- Skill in communicating technical issues clearly to leadership and stakeholders
