job summary:
the florida department of revenue is seeking qualified candidates to join its office of employee relations as an employee relations consultant. This selected exempt service position plays a key role in supporting managers, supervisors, and employees on a variety of employee and labor relations matters.
this role requires strong, critical thinking and analysis skills, organization, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- consulting with managers and supervisors on employee conduct, performance, and disciplinary matters.
- reviewing and evaluating reports of employee misconduct or performance issues and determining appropriate action.
- preparing disciplinary action documentation.
- coordinating and conducting career service pre-determination conferences.
- assisting with the creation, revision, and maintenance of employee relations–related policies, procedures, guides, job aids, and forms.
- conducting training for supervisors on employee relations topics.
- analyzing employee relations–related legislation.
- assisting, as needed, in other functional areas within employee relations, including but not limited to, americans with disabilities act accommodation requests, employee assistance program referrals, fitness-for-duty referrals, and reemployment assistance cases.
minimum requirements:
- two (2) years of professional experience in employee relations or other human resources functional area.
- strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate, clear, and well-organized correspondence, reports, and other documentation.
- ability to analyze information, apply policies and procedures, and make sound recommendations.
- strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and interact with others in a professional manner.
- ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and provide timely responses while maintaining organization and accuracy.
- proficiency in microsoft office applications, including word, outlook, excel, and power point.
preferences:
- a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in human resource management, law, business administration, or a related field.
- experience in employee relations or labor relations.
- shrm or hrci certification.
- experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, or employment laws and regulations.
- experience preparing disciplinary actions, investigative summaries, or grievance responses.
- experience conducting training.
