JOB SUMMARY: The Florida Department of Revenue is seeking qualified candidates for its Employee Relations Consultant position in the Office of Workforce Management. If you are interested in the multi-faceted area of employee relations and seek variety in your work, this is the position for you.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the Department’s Discrimination Intake Officer. The Discrimination Intake Officer is responsible for reviewing, investigating, and responding to complaints of discrimination filed internally through the Department’s discrimination complaint process, or externally with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or the Florida Commission on Human Relations.
- Serves as the Department’s Career Service Grievance Coordinator, which includes consulting with supervisors, reviewing and approving Step 1 decisions, and preparing Step 2 decisions.
- Serves as the Department’s Workplace Accommodations Coordinator. Reviews and evaluates workplace accommodation requests related to disability, pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, or religious reasons, assists in identifying reasonable accommodations, and prepares final accommodation determinations.
- Assists, as needed, in other functional areas within Employee Relations, including reemployment assistance cases, fitness for duty evaluation referrals, and Employee Assistance Program referrals.
- Provides guidance to employees and management seeking assistance with employee relations issues.
- Develops and conducts training on employee relations issues and assists with the creation and updating of employee relations policies, procedures, and related tools.
- Prepares reports and responds to data and public records requests.
- Assists the Employee Relations Manager on special projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Two (2) years of professional (non-administrative) experience in employee relations or labor relations within the last ten years.
- Experience reviewing, investigating, and responding to employment discrimination complaints.
- Experience consulting with management and employees on employee relations’ and/or labor relations’ matters.
- Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity laws.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Work, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written communication skills.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience handling workplace accommodation requests.
- Experience handling Career Service grievances.
- Experience conducting training on employee relations issues.
SPECIAL NOTES:
- Candidates may be required to provide a written work sample.
SALARY: $52,500 – $55,500.
